The Community Challenge

Fostering a strong sense of attachment to community underpins the success of cities.  If people are attached to their community, they want to stay and make it prosper.  CEOs for Cities will stage the Detroit Community Challenge November 10-11 to explore more fully the concept of attachment as a precursor to successful cities and develop actionable recommendations for amplifying attachment.

One of a series of US Initiative Challenges in five cities, the Community Challenge will gather experts from the fields of citizen engagement, public policy activism, volunteerism, technology, government, and citizen-led civic production to share their diverse points of view and develop a new understanding of what a contemporary robust public life looks like.

By the end of the challenge, participants will have developed a set of 12 big ideas to foster a robust public life that puts increasing attachment and amplifying community attachment drivers as its heart.
